The focal point when you walk into the home is the beautiful curved staircase. This is most likely one of the remaining original features of the home. The style is similar to other historic homes in Brentwood and similar to the more well known Hermitage, the home of President Andrew Jackson. The foyer and parlors required little updating other than paint and refinished f

The custom-made bookcases in the study were in beautiful shape when we bought the home. With the help of many wonderful friends, they were cleaned up and now add a wonderful, warm environment for reading or studying. You may notice the antique shotguns on either side of the fireplace. These were the first “treasures” that we found on the property, tucked away behind a bookshelf. It

The wallpaper in the music room is from a renovation that was completed in the mid-1980’s and was whitewashed to let a little of the pattern and color come through. The marble mantle was installed almost 100 years ago and is made from Italian marble.

The mantle was also made in Italy and put into the home in 1932. God knew that these pieces were going to meet one day and matched
Kitchen before
The kitchen and breakfast area needed the most work on the first floor. We kept the set up of the kitchen, but had to replace all of the cabinets and appliances. The wooden French doors leading into the laundry room (once a closet) were chosen by Amy.

the kitchen and breakfast area exist because the kitchen was previously a separate building and not part of the main house. The mantle above the fireplace in the kitchen was built by Patrick’s grandfather, John Stites, from a tree off of the family farm for a home we owned in 2002. We brought it with us through a couple of moves, and it fit perf
