It’s hard to know where to begin except to give God all credit for blessing us with this beautiful, historic home. Grandview was built in 1849, but it became our home in 2022. After the loss of seven of our close friends in 2021, and being given the honor of raising three more children, we felt like God was leading us to a fresh start for our expanded family. Having looked at one other historic home in Franklin, Alec Leaman, our agent with Brandon Hannah Properties, suggested we look at this property, one that we didn’t know existed even though we had lived in the area for almost 20 years! From the moment we pulled into the driveway, we felt like God was leading us into something new and blessed. We had prayed to God for clear direction and within the first few moments of being on the property we discover the monument in the front yard. Its a family shield from the late 1800s with the inscription written in Welsh, but the translation is “Without God Nothing, With God Enough.” We knew immediately that this was from God! The home was unoccupied for many years and needed quite a bit of attention. Amy had spent the last 20 years working for Gwen Lara as her personal assistant, and Gwen owned a historic antebellum home in Brentwood as well. Amy learned so much during that time on how to restore & maintain this type of home, so once again, this felt like another clear sign from God that this was something we could tackle. Also, the sellers agent met with us, heard our story, and immediately screamed out “You guys are the needle in the haystack my client has been looking for!” Once again—we were brought to tears feeling Gods Spirit guiding us through the this whole experience. Since the purchase of this home, we have witnessed daily/weekly answered prayers from God and so many stories of how God has used this property to bring great healing and purpose to our family. Here on this site, we have tried to share a few stories of how we feel like He has orchestrated every detail of this renovation of a beautiful property.
